God has given all of us gifts and abilities to use for His glory. With "Explore", we want to venture into the lives of our brothers, and see what talents the Lord has bestowed upon them that they have ignored or have taken for granted. In doing so, we will also explore ways we can implement their gifts, motivate those who feel insecure about their abilities, and create ideas for the men's ministry that can use some of the talents that we learn about.
Book - "Just Do Something" by Kevin DeYoung
Just Do Something (Part 1) - Discover the barriers to serving, relate it to scripture, and help men walk through the mystery that surrounds God’s will and our understanding of it.
Just Do Something (Part 2) - Come away with practical knowledge on where they want to serve or to create new ministries from their desire to serve.
This part of the retreat will focus deeper on the hearts of those whom are apathetic to the needs of our church. We will be speaking in love and with urgency, deciphering the reasons why we are not motivated to serve. We will examine what issues might be behind our lack of desire, whether it be idols, indecisiveness, sexual sin, or just a need for a spark to be lit in our souls.
Book - "Emotionally Healthy Spirituality" by Peter Scazzero
Heart Check - To bring to light the fears, reservations, and sins that keep us from serving or wanting to serve under/with others. Why do these things keep us stuck and what is at the root of them?
Growing In Maturity - To take practical steps towards being honest with God, yourself, and others. In doing this we can move towards reconciliation and freedom to become the emotionally healthy spiritual adults God intended to be.
We cannot forget the fact that a retreat, is still a retreat- a time away from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, in order to take rest and be with the Lord. We want those who are feeling overwhelmed to find peace and rest during this time. We will be speaking on ways to refuel, and re-energize. It will also be a place to dream about what the future of the men's ministry could be and put hands and feet to these ideas to help the church as a fammunity raise the banner together.
Book - "Crazy Busy" by Kevin DeYoung
Crazy Busy - Discovering the peace and presence of God in silence and Sabbath in the midst of our busy lives. Our lives have no limits. We eat (most of ) what we want, buy (most of) what we want, and say yes to (too much of) what we want. Because we can do so much, we expand ourselves beyond our limits for the sake of opportunity, self satisfaction, or pride.
Raising The Banner - Finding new and creative ways to lead the men of CCF to serve and to community with one another. Lots of dreaming and setting up practical foundations to ensure the health of our men's ministry.
